The first task for anyone brave enough to help Max is to discover the secret combination to open the door to the mine. The last miner out of the area locked the section of the mine containing Shaft 12. He swore no one would get back in and split the combination into five pieces, which he hid separately. No one ever found out if the door was locking people out or locking something in.

Once you find the combination and unlock the door, you’ll have to work your way through an incredible maze of pathways, bridges, left over mining materials and equipment to find the secret passageway into Shaft 12.

No one really knows what happens if you enter Shaft 12, and even if you find it, you don’t have to go in. You’ll probably come out if you do, and don’t forget the gemstones that are just beneath the surface of the loose dirt. Those are prizes you get to keep, if you can sluice away the mining dirt.
